Avenir Type Specimen

This Type Specimen Sheet was a project assigned in my Typography course in college. The objective was to design an informational poster about a typeface. I utilized my research of the history of my typeface, Avenir, as a springboard for the visual execution. Since I chose a contemporary approach, I knew I wanted to test the boundaries of typography. I experimented with various scales and sizes of text. Although this was an informational poster, I didn’t want the text to bore the eye of my viewer. To draw in my viewers, I scaled up the most important information and placed it in the center of the sheet. I placed the rest of the information, in various scales, in an organized manner allowing enough negative space for the eye of my viewer to explore without feeling overwhelmed.
